Bands of America Grand National Championships The Bands of America Grand National Championships is recognized as the premier marching band event in the nation. More than 90 bands from across America compete, including some of the finest, most progressive bands in the activity today. The annual event also features exhibition performances by outstanding college bands from across the country. A total of 109 marching bands from 22 states are scheduled to perform during the 2014 event.

The 2014 field competition will feature 94 bands in preliminary competition on Thursday and Friday, with up to 36 bands advancing to semi-finals during the day on Saturday. Twelve bands advance to finals on Saturday evening. The United States Army Band will perform each day, and four college bands will perform in exhibition throughout the week: Illinois State University, Marian University, Tennessee State University and University of North Alabama. Ten local bands will perform in Wednesday's Indianapolis Marching Band Tournament. All performances take place in Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis.

The Bands of America Grand National Championships creates an aura of excellence that fosters healthy competition and student and professional development, all in an atmosphere of celebration for the entire band program, students, teachers, parents and fans.

The event kicks off on Wednesday night with the Indianapolis Marching Band Tournament, featuring 10 local bands in competition. The event also includes an Expo of more than 100 booths, the Student Leadership Workshop with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, and other special events and clinics.
