
The Bands of America Grand National Championships is recognized as the premier marching band event in the nation. More than 90 bands from across
America participate, including some of the finest, most progressive bands in the activity today. The annual event also features exhibition
performances by outstanding college bands from across the country.
The 2012 field competition will feature approximately 90 bands in preliminary competition on Thursday and Friday, with up to 36 bands advancing to semi-finals during the
day on Saturday. Twelve bands advance to finals on Saturday evening. All performances take place in Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis.

Grand National Championships creates an aura of excellence that fosters healthy competition and student and professional
development, all in an atmosphere of celebration for the entire band program, students, teachers, parents and fans.
The event kicks off on Wednesday night with the Indianapolis Public Schools Marching Band Tournament, featuring local bands in competition. The event also includes an Expo of
more than 100 booths, the Student Leadership Workshop with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, and other special events and clinics.

Bands of America is a program of Music for All. Since 1975, MFA, through its Bands of America and Orchestra America programs, has been a
destination and set the standard for scholastic music ensemble performance and student and teacher education. A 501(c)(3)
not-for-profit educational organization, MFA uses its national profile programming to model, showcase, recognize and provide individual,
teacher and organizational examples of music performance excellence and achievement. MFA's programs include 20 annual events, including the
