The Big Sioux Review celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2009 with 12 bands and 4,000 fans filling the stadium. The event has become known as a truly enjoyable and educational experience with every aspect of it deemed "first-rate." Bands and their directors have come to expect excellent facilities, friendly and courteous treatment by the BSR volunteeers, and a complimentary 2-disc DVD set of the entire competition. Fans have come to expect a great stadium for viewing bands, terrific concessions (featuring a grilled pork sandwich second to none), and a professionally produced, high-quality program book.

Sponsored by the Brandon Valley Band Parents, Inc., the Big Sioux Review is held annually on the last Saturday in September. Because Brandon is located only 7 miles from the Minnesota/South Dakota border, many bands elect to participate in the Luverne, Minnesota Tri-State Band Festival in the afternoon before traveling to Brandon for the Big Sioux Review. New for 2010, an award will be presented to the overall champion of the day's events by combining the point totals from both competitions.

Classification is determined by the number of members in each competing band. Interested bands can receive more information by contacting Bob Goheen, Big Sioux Review chairman.
