D-Day Anniversary, Normandy, France On June 6, 1944, the fate of the world changed when Allied Forces stormed the beaches of Normandy. The scales were tilted against the Axis for good and World War II was soon over. This is your opportunity to stand in the very spot where this pivotal battle was waged, remembering its importance to France — and the world.

The 66th D-Day Anniversary Performance Tour honors the history and heroes of Normandy. Bands perform at the Omaha Beach Memorial and in one of the D-Day Anniversary parades. Educational visits include the Caen Peace Memorial and Arromanches D-Day Museum. In Paris, bands perform at Luxembourg Gardens, and visit the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Palace of Versailles and Notre Dame Cathedral. sss

Before departure, each participating band receives educational materials including the profile of a fallen soldier from their home state. On tour, students will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the grave of that solder in the Normandy American Cemetery at Omaha Beach.

Comments From Past Participants

"This highly customized tour for the Holland American Legion Band was a great success and exceeded my expectations! Our concerts in the Netherlands were extremely meaningful and rewarding for all involved. Gateway provided all the performance experiences we wished to include and great sight-seeing opportunities as well. The 65th D-Day Anniversary tour was such a wonderful experience that we will consider doing another major trip in the next few years."
Mr. Thom Working, Director
Holland American Legion Band
Holland, Michigan

"The 60th D-Day Anniversary Tour was additional evidence to the power of music. Our preparation for the tour created a tremendous sense of unity, understanding and gratitude."
Dr. David C. Fullmer
Assistant Professor of Music, Utah Valley State College
Director of Bands, Timpview High School
President, Utah Music Educators Association
