Now in its fourth year, the Osseo Marching Band Festival returns in 2010 with a fine lineup of high school marching bands in street marching
competition. The performance route passes though the historic streets of the quaint, 100+ year-old city of Osseo, Minnesota. This is the newest
bands-only parade in the state, and the first in the northwest Minneapolis metro area. The parade steps off at noon and the awards ceremony is
planned for around 3:00 PM.
The route has four play zones along a distance of about eight-tenths of a mile. The performance route starts near
Osseo Elementary School and ends at Osseo Senior High School. A route map is posted online at OsseoBandFestival.org. Judging takes place
near the intersection of 2nd Street NE and 2nd Avenue NE. A panel of six judges is being provided by Tri-State Band Judges.
The first 10 bands to register receive a guaranteed travel stipend of $300. In the past, because of excellent community support, all bands
have received the travel stipend. Trophies are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each of three classes with prize money of $500, $300 and
$200 respectively. Participation plaques are presented to bands not placing in the top three. Trophies are also awarded for Best Colorguard,
Best Winds, Best Drumline and Grand Champion.
Looking for a weekend (or longer) trip for your band? The Osseo Marching Band Festival Committee is available to help with arrangements. Special
requests are no problem. Gymnasium housing is available with breakfast service in the morning. Everything in Minneapolis/St. Paul is near Osseo
... hotels, waterslides, Mall of America, science museum, performing arts activities and more. For us, it's all about the students. March well, play hard!
