Nine years ago the Youth In Music Championships were just a dream and an idea. In those years the YIM Championships have grown from 9 to 20 bands and 1,400 to 6,000 in attendance. The YIM Championships have quickly become one of the premier marching band events in the Midwest. Join us on Saturday October 12, 2013 at the HHH Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN.
The 2012 event was great, with a large lineup of 20 bands from six states all performing in the 70-degree comfort of the indoor dome.
Special units will again present featured exhibitions during breaks in the contest. Last year featured exhibitions were presented by The 451st Army Band, Minne-Brass, University of Minnesota-Duluth Marching Band, University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse Marching Band and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugold Marching Band.

• VIDEO RECORDING EQUIPMENT: VIDEO NEWS MEDIA passes will be issued by YIM to qualified broadcast television news media.
No video or audio recording devices are allowed into the stadium, including those with "band
videographers." Credentialed television news crews and YIM-pre-approved professional
filmmakers are the only exceptions. Any camera person wishing to enter the stadium for any other
purpose, including documentary filmmakers, must have pre-approval in writing from YIM.
• PHOTOGRAPHY: Use of cameras of any kind are NOT ALLOWED on the field (stadium floor) for any YIM event,
except for Varsity Photos, the Official Photographer of YIM, and official news media with
credentials. Still cameras (digital or film, point and shoot, nothing longer than 4 inches, nor detachable) are allowed into the stadium and may be used
from stadium seating, but not on the field. Tripods or other similar equipment that may obstruct the view or path
of travel of others in seating areas are not allowed.
Youth In Music prides itself on providing a unique experience for participating band members and band directors.
• Band directors enjoy a complimentary dinner along with skybox seating during the competition.
• Band members have a great time interacting with members of other bands during the dinner break while
they play on the Metrodome Turf listening to live music.
The event date is determined by the Metrodome schedule. Whenever possible, the intent is to
hold the Youth In Music Championships on the second to last weekend of October.
