Facebook users: Cast your votes to help DCI corps receive $20,000 donation

Chase Community Giving Summer 2010 voting ends July 12

JUNE 15, 2010 — The Chase Community Giving Summer 2010 program is now live on the Facebook platform. Facebook users can cast votes to determine which 200 charities receive a share of more than $5 million, with grants ranging from $20,000 to $250,000.

Chase Community Giving The first Chase Community Giving program, held in early 2010, drew more than 2 million users who became fans of the program on Facebook and helped decide which charities should receive a share of $5 million. Four groups affiliated with Drum Corps International were among the more than 100 winners representing 31 states. Carolina Crown, Cavaliers, Colts and Phantom Regiment each received a $25,000 grant and as past winners those groups are not eligible for the summer 2010 program.

Chase has expanded the program for this second round of giving. The number of charities receiving awards will double to 200, with one charity receiving a top donation of $250,00, four runners-up receiving $100,000, and 195 charities receiving $20,000.

To underscore the smaller and local focus of the program, only 501(c)(3) public non-profits with operating expenses of $1 million or less will be eligible. There will be one round of voting, with the winners to be announced on July 13.

Each Facebook account holder can cast up to 20 votes (limited to one vote per organization). A new feature called "gift votes" allows users to give and receive extra votes which can then be used to cast a second vote for the same organization.
