(January 2, 2017, Pasadena, California)
The band lineup for the 2017
Rose Parade was terrific, with a mix of units
representing ages (high school, university and adult), regions (11 individual states) and countries (USA, Mexico and Japan). One of the
highlights was Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps which assembled a 250-member corps to kick off its 50th anniversary celebration.
The Tournament of Roses skillfully utilized the powerful corps as part of both the opening
and closing productions. The parade's
spectacular opening moment featured the brass and percussion on the lawn of the Tournament of Roses headquarters, while the talented
color guard filled the street and the air with energetic movement and high equipment tosses. The full corps later marched together as the final
musical entry in the parade. All marching ensembles from the 2017 Rose Parade are pictured here in order of appearance.
