It was a stellar year for floats in the 2017
Rose Parade. Lush designs loaded with fresh blooms
certainly challenged the judges in making decisions for awards, and overcast skies made the colors pop vividly for the millions of viewers watching in person
and on television around the world. Dole Foods earned the coveted Sweepstakes award with its tropical entry "Spirit of Hawaii" which featured
an erupting volcano and multiple waterfalls. BDK/Singpoli received the Fantasy trophy for "The Monkey King" which displayed exquisite color harmony and texture.
La Cañada Flintridge earned its second consecutive Bob Hope humor award with its entry "Backyard Rocketeer," and the American Armenian Rose Float Association
earned the Past President's trophy recognizing creative design and use of materials in "Field of Dreams."
